Attraction buys Canadian prodco CMJ
Quebec-based production and distribution group Attraction has acquired Fatal Vows prodco CMJ Productions.
Montreal-based CMJ makes English and French-language factual programming and is run by John Kuyk (right). He will remain in charge following the acquisition, alongside staffers including Judith Beauchemin. Former A+E exec Michael Katz is also at the prodco.
As well as Investigation Discovery’s Fatal Vows, CMJ makes series including true crime show Impostors, A Stranger in My Home and factual offering The Will: Family Secrets Revealed.
“CMJ Productions’ seasoned team, helmed by John Kuyk, leverages its extensive experience in international documentaries,” said Richard Speer, president of Attraction.
“Adding CMJ Productions to Attraction’s asset portfolio will not only enable us to diversify our offering, but also significantly contribute to expanding our organisation’s presence across English-language markets in Canada and worldwide.”
Kuyk said: “On behalf of everyone at CMJ Productions, it’s both a pleasure and honour to join the ranks of Attraction Media, a major player in the TV and film industries.
“This transaction will take our team to the next level through the expertise and resources of a visionary and energetic company.”
