Youfone launching TV service in the Netherlands
Dutch SIM-only mobile operator Youfone is planning to launch a new IP-delivered TV service in partnership with phone manufacturer Huawei.
According to local reports, Youfone will launch its service by April next year, offering live TV channels, VOD, apps and games, with a basic package priced at €10 (US$12).
The basic package will include about 20 channels and will be available via mobile apps, Apple TV and Chromecast. Channels on the platform will include services from Dutch public broadcaster NPO and commercial broadcasters RTL and SBS, including seven-day catch-up services.
Youfone will also offer an SVOD service with a range of movies and series for a reported price of €2.50 a month.
In addition to the app-based services, Youfone will offer a TV-focused package in including a Huawei set-top for a total price of €15 a month.
Youfone also plans to bundle the service with the internet via an agreement with KPN.
