Amazon buys Keshet’s A Word
Amazon has acquired The A Word for its US streaming service.
The e-commerce giant has snagged exclusive US streaming rights for the finished UK version of the drama, which played on BBC One in the UK.
The show was made by Fifty Fathoms Productions and Keshet UK and is distributed by Keshet International. Chris Rice, partner at WME, represents KI in the US and struck the Amazon deal.
The agreement allows Prime users to stream or download the series, which is a family drama and follows its journey and experience of having an autistic son.
The show has already gone out on Sundance in the US. A local version has also been greenlit in Greece.
Keren Shahar, COO KI and president distribution said, “The fact that Amazon has acquired SVOD rights to both seasons of the series is a testament to its quality, appeal and performance to date – it seems we’re not the only ones who can’t wait to see the second season unfold.”
