How Do I Look? format breaks into LatAm
NBCUniversal’s international formats division has shopped its makeover show How Do I Look? to stablemate E! Entertainment in Mexico.
The Mexican E! channel order for a local version – Cambiame El Look – is the first format deal for the show in LatAm.
The Mexican show will run to 13 parts and enter production this month for launch next year.
The format has ‘style challenged’ people nominated by their family and friends to get the opportunity to have the ultimate style makeover. A panel of fashionistas will then make that person over and give them a new signature look.
The series originally went out on NBC cable net Style, running to twelve seasons. A pan-Asian version has gone out on NBCU’s Diva net. The Boomdog prodco makes the original show for NBCUniversal International Networks.
Yvonne Pilkington, senior VP, format sales & production for NBCUniversal International Formats said: “How Do I Look? is a warm and entertaining makeover show which enjoyed long-running success in the US and more recently in Asia. It’s great to see the format entering Latin America via E! Entertainment Television in Mexico.”
“Adapting this successful format for Latin America, featuring local fashion failures, is the perfect evolution for original content on E!”, said Klaudia Bermudez, senior VP and general manager NBCUniversal Latin America. “How Do I Look? combines two key elements with our pop culture channel: it is readily accessible with an aspirational quality that appeals to our viewers”.
