Sky Kids secures shortform toon package
The Sky Kids App in the UK has acquired a package of animated children’s shorts from LA-based prodco Calm Island and Paris-based vendor LNC Media.
The deal comprises 70 animated songs from the Badanamu online brand, which has clocked up more than 1.3 billion views since 2013. The brand follows a puppy, Bada, and his friends, who sing a variety of songs, including nursery rhymes and popular music songs.
European satcaster Sky hired Lucy Murphy to launch and run its kids entertainment service, which debuted in March.
Murphy said today: “Bada and his adorable friends make a great toe-tapping addition to our ever growing library of short form digital content on Sky Kids. Nursery rhymes and music are just one of the recent additions to our kids entertainment offer and this is an area we are planning to grow by adding short form content for older kids in the new year.”
The deal comes less than a month after LNC sold a package of Badanamu content to France’s Lagardère Active for its channels in French-speaking Europe and Africa.
