Nets schedule Carrie Fisher, Debbie Reynolds tributes
US channels have reacted to the passing of Hollywood legends Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds, with HBO moving a new documentary forwards and OWN re-airing an exclusive interview with the pair.
Premium cable net HBO had brought one-off doc Bright Lights: Starring Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds, forwards to Saturday (January 7).
The doc looks at the complicated relationship between Fisher, who died on December 2017, 2016, aged 60, and her mother, Reynolds, who passed a day after her daughter.
Foxtel has also acquired the doc for Australian pay TV, and will broadcast it at the same time as east coast US, before playing again later that day.
Furthermore, HBO re-ran 2010 Fisher special Wishful Drinking, a TV version of her autobiographical stage show, on Sunday (January 1).
Elsewhere, basic cable channel OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network on Thursday broadcasts an interview with Fisher and Reynolds from The Oprah Winfrey Show.
Fisher is known for playing Princess Leia in the Star Wars movies, while Reynolds starred in a number of films and programmes, including 1952’s Singin’ in the Rain.
