Meg Ryan returns to TV drama with Epix
US premium cable channel Epix is to bring big screen star Meg Ryan back to television for the first time in more than 30 years.
The network has commissioned Kapital Entertainment and Entertainment One to coproduce a small screen version of comedy Picture Paris, which is a 2011 short film about a woman obsessed with France’s capital city.
Ryan’s previous starring TV role was back in 1985, on the short-lived ABC series Wildside. She is better known for movies such as When Harry Met Sally and Sleepless in Seattle, and more recently worked with Lisa Kudrow on internet comedy series Web Therapy and was attached to the failed CBS pilot How I Met Your Dad.
According Deadline, which broke the news, Picture Paris film director Brad Hall will write and direct the series.
The commission is the third for Epix since it moved beyond its original model of acquiring feature films. In 2015, it greenlit Berlin Station and Graves, both of which have been taken to a second season.
