AMC expands Balkans footprint
AMC Networks International – Central Europe is expanding its Balkans footprint after agreeing a new deal with service provider United Group.
AMCNI claims that the AMC channel that it broadcasts in central and eastern Europe will now reach nearly one million new homes in the Balkans region, with the affiliate arrangement covering both cable and satellite distribution.
AMC is now available in the basic cable package of Serbia Broadband in Serbia and is offered via satellite to Total TV subscribers in Serbia, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Slovenia.
As part of the agreement, AMCNI CE’s children’s channel, Minimax, will also now be carried to new households in Bosnia, with United Group’s Telemach Bosnia adding the channel to its Digital Start package.
The deal means that both AMC and Minimax will each be distributed on all United Group platforms in the region.
AMC Networks International Central Europe and UK president Mike Moriarty (pictured) described the partnership as a “significant step for both AMC’s and Minimax’s regional expansion”.
“We see the Balkan region as one of the fastest growing pay TV markets in Europe and it is a main priority for us to continue the development in this region in 2017,” he added.
