Cineflix partners with Barro
Montreal-based Cineflix Media has secured a partnership deal with Canadian producer André Barro.
Glen Salzman, co-founder and co-CEO of Cineflix Media, said: “André has a great track record of working with international producers and getting quality co-productions off the ground.
“By combining André’s expertise with Cineflix’s extensive production and financial resources, we can offer an innovative and producer-friendly coproduction platform, creating outstanding content for Canadian and international networks.”
Previously, Barro played a senior role in production at Cineflix as senior executive.
Barro said: “I’m delighted to be reuniting with Glen and Katherine [Buck, co-CEO] at Cineflix. We want to bring coproduction to a new level, providing an innovative model for some of the world’s top content creators to get their programming made in a collaborative and transparent manner.”
He will work out of Cineflix’s Canadian and UK offices as a consultant partner. Barro will collaborate with European and UK indies to find coproduction projects, and organise production facilities and financing with Cineflix and Canadian broadcasters.
Barro has over 20 years of production experience, working with European, Canadian and British producers. He was vice president and executive producer at Handel Productions.
Programming he’s produced has featured on UK channels National Geographic, BBC and Sky, as well as through Canadian channel Bell Media. He also created Cineflix’s long-running series Mayday, which is in its seventeenth season.
