Carnival hires BBC exec as Wall to Wall grows
British producers Wall to Wall and Carnival Films have named new executive producers.
Downton Abbey producer Carnival has hired BBC Studios’ Jess Pope (pictured) as executive producer, while, Long Lost Family prodco Wall to Wall has appointed Melissa Brown as executive producer, factual entertainment.
NBCUniversal International Studios-owned Carnival wants Pope to develop her own programming, while working alongside EPs Nigel Marchant and Richard Fell on the prodco’s slate, which currently includes The Last Kingdom and Stan Lee’s Lucy Man for Sky and BBC/PBS coproduction The Hollow Crown: The Wars of the Roses.
She was previously at the BBC’s production arm, BBC Studios, where she was also EP. She has held roles at BBC Drama in London and Salford, working on series such as Good Cop and The Muskateers.
She has also been deputy commissioning editor, drama, for UK broadcaster Channel 4.
Brown (right), meanwhile, has joined Warner Bros. Television Production UK-owned Wall to Wall after a spell as a freelancer on shows such as the BBC’s The Great British Bake Off, Channel 4’s Naked Attraction, ITV2’s The Only Way is Essex, and BBC Three’s The Baby Borrowers.
At Wall to Wall she will initially oversee Channel 4 series Child Genius.
