Hispanic content group brings in buyer
Florida-based Hispanic media group Olympusat has named cable veteran John Baghdassarian as its VP of content acquisitions.
Olympusat offers English- and Spanish-language channel bouquets in the Americas, and has brought in Baghdassarian (pictured) to bolster its buying team. He was previously VP of distribution at the West Palm Beach-headquartered business.
He will work with content producers and distributors in Germany, eastern Europe and the Middle East to find programming for Olympusat’s owned-and-operated channels and over-the-top TV Everywhere service VEMOX.
“Content acquisition is an essential part of our business,” said Tom Mohler, CEO of Olympusat parent Olympusat Holdings. “It’s crucial for us to identify and license top-quality content for our channels.”
“There is high-quality entertainment being produced overseas, and I’m eager to share it with our audience,” said Baghdassarian. “Olympusat has put together a multicultural content strategy that embraces different genres, filmmaking styles and offers unrivaled programming from all over the world.”
