MTV exec joins Impractical Jokers prodco
MTV development director Dane Reiley has joined New-York based Impractical Jokers producer NorthSouth Productions in a comedy-focused role.
Reiley (pictured) has been named VP of comedy development, overseeing NorthSouth’s comedy division and reporting to CEO and founder Charlie DeBevoise.
He look to will develop and produce unscripted, comedy-driven formats and docu-series for US broadcast and cable networks, and digital platforms in the States and the UK.
NorthSouth is best known for TruTV ratings winner Impractical Jokers, which is in its sixth season and has been localised in various territories around the world.
Reiley was most recently senior director of development and production at US cable channels MTV and MTV2, where he developed unscripted and scripted series and live events.
His credits include Middle of the Night Show and MTV’s New Year’s Eve live special, and he was also a co-executive producer of Billy on the Street, which was developed for Funny or Die before transferring to TruTV.
“Dane is one of the best comedy creators in the business – he has a stellar reputation, amazing energy and a keen eye for talent,” said DeBevoise. “Our slate is diverse across all genres, however, we’ve had great success with The Tenderloins and Impractical Jokers, which was our first foray into comedy.
“NorthSouth should be the go-to comedy producer for other great talent and Dane provides the creative muscle to get us to that goal.”
The prodco, which A+E Networks co-owner Hearst Entertainment bought 50% of in 2012, is currently producing an unannounced comedy pilot with TruTV, and has series in the works at Maker Studios, Bravo and Travel Channel.
