BBC Worldwide staffs up in Brazil
BBC Worldwide is expanding its Brazilian operations with two new execs joining the distributor’s São Paulo office.
Carolina Alckmin joins the Worldwide unit as a development producer, while Luiz Eduardo Silva Soares is named digital sales coordinator.
Alckmin has worked for the country’s largest broadcaster TV Globo as well as prodcos including O2 and Tangerina.
The news comes soon after Worldwide and Endemol Shine inked a local programming pact, with Endemol Shine Brazil repurposing Worldwide’s entertainment and drama series locally.
In the newly created producer role, Alckmin will work with Endemol Shine as they work up BBC Worldwide formats for Brazil.
The other new face is Soares who becomes the digital sales coordinator. He joins from broadcaster TV Record and reports to Paula Teruko, content sales manager at BBC Worldwide Brazil.
“These changes to our São Paulo team reflect our commitment to meeting the growing demand for premium British content in the region with a cross-platform strategy that enables us to distribute our programs and brand content in innovative and interesting ways,” said Anna Gordon, EVP and managing director of BBC Worldwide Latin America / US Hispanic.
Worldwide formats on Brazilian TV include local versions of Bake Off and What Not to Wear, both of which are on the SBT channel.
