Sam Bain comedy set for iPlayer & BBC Two
An upcoming three-part comedy from Peep Show writer Sam Bain will debut on the BBC iPlayer service before airing on UK terrestrial broadcaster BBC Two.
Ill Behaviour’s release model is the latest example of the UK’s pubcaster using its on-demand service as a platform to attract traditional and on- demand audiences with the same content.
The miniseries follows Tom Riley as a young man who eschews traditional cancer treatments in favour of a new age approach. His friends (Chris Geere and Jessica Regan) hold him hostage and administer the chemotherapy themselves with the help of an unstable, alcoholic oncologist.
“The cast and team have pulled off something very ambitious and it’s the perfect must watch the next episode box-set viewing experience to launch on BBC iPlayer ahead of its broadcast on BBC Two,” said BBC controller of comedy commissioning Shane Allen.
Fudge Park, the indie Inbetweeners creators Iain Morris and Damon Beesley founded in 2015, is attached as producer, in conjunction with BBC Worldwide, the BBC’s commercial arm. Bain, Beesley, Morris and Simon Morris are executive producers.
Allen co-commissioned the comedy with BBC iPlayer head of TV content Victoria Jaye. Worldwide has international sales rights.
Writer Bain is currently setting up a new production company with Peep Show co-writer Jesse Armstrong and Phil Clarke, who this month stepped down a comedy boss at UK terrestrial Channel 4.
