AMC poaches Dickie, rejigs international
Kevin Dickie is joining the international arm of AMC, and two other execs have been given new responsibilities in a rejig at the channel operator.
Dickie (left) joins AMC Networks International this month and will take the newly-created role of senior VP, channels group, UK, Middle East and Africa, and Poland. In the UK the AMC net is on the BT platform and has shows including Fear the Walking Dead.
The new recruit will join AMC from Scripps Networks Interactive after less than six months at the channels business. He was SVP, UK and EMEA at Scripps, where he had been consulting before joining in a full-time capacity last September.
Before that he was Discovery Communications’ Asian operation for fourteen years, leaving as part of a regional restructure.
At AMCNI, Dickie will oversee a 12-strong portfolio of channels including AMC, SundanceTV and CBS Studios International joint venture channels CBS Reality and CBS Drama.
With Dickie joining, two existing AMCNI execs have new roles. Levente Málnay (right) will become senior VP, channels group, central and northern Europe, and Tanya Gugenheim (below left) will assume the role of senior VP, mergers and acquisitions and business development.
All three execs will report to Mike Moriarty, president, AMC Networks International Central Europe and UK.
“We are very excited to have someone of Kevin’s calibre bring his dynamic skill set and exceptional strategic vision to AMCNI, that will undoubtedly help build on our company’s successes, and take each of our businesses to the next level across the UK, MEA and Poland,” he said.
Málnay’s new role sees him add northern Europe to his current responsibilities covering Central Europe. He has been with AMCNI and its forbear Chello since 2009.
Gugenheim, who has been at the company since 1999, will work across corporate strategy and existing and new joint ventures.
“Levente and Tanya have been instrumental in the growth of our CE and UK regions and I very much look forward to continue to work with them in their new, expanded roles,” Moriarty said.
