eOne teams with Buscemi, Tucci prodco
Entertainment One has inked a first-look deal with Olive Productions, Steve Buscemi, Stanley Tucci and Wren Arthur’s New York-based prodco.
The deal will see eOne act as the studio on all Olive future TV shows, and its distribution arm will sell them internationally.
“We’ve found a globally-minded studio partner that shares in our commitment to bold, strong, irreverent characters,” said Wren Arthur, who was a producer for filmmaker Robert Altman before Olive. “We look forward to reaching audiences around the globe through stories that matter.”
In a joint statement, Soprano’s star Buscemi and The Devil Wears Prada actor Tucci added: “eOne really get what we are about and are perfectly aligned with our sensibilities.”
Buscemi, Tucci and Arthur are the joint founders of Olive, which makes TV,film and digital projects including the AOL original Park Bench with Steve Buscemi (pictured), which is distributed by FremantleMedia.
Carolyn Newman, who recently joined eOne from Amazon, led the deal for the indie studio while Olive is repped by WME.
Pancho Mansfield, president, global scripted programming, eOne Television told TBI that Olive has great relations with new and established stage and screen talent on the East Coast.
Speaking as the deal was announced he said: “As producers, Steve and Stanley have an unparalleled sense for finding standout characters and bringing them to the screen. We’re thrilled to be working with them, and their brilliant partner Wren, as we continue in our strategy to share great stories with the world.”
