Amazon snags ChuChu for India
Amazon has inked a deal with ChuChu TV, landing a raft of exclusive kids content for its recently-launched streaming service in India.
ChuChu’s preschool nursery rhyme-based fare has proved popular on YouTube with its dedicated channel having over eight million subscribers.
Amazon will be the exclusive streaming home and allow subs to watch the kids content advertising-free, unlike the YouTube service, which carries ads.
The Johny Johny Yes Papa video is ChuChu’s most popular, registering over a billion hits on YouTube.
“ChuChu TV is one of India’s top animators and their series of upbeat songs and colorful animations is much-loved by kids worldwide,” said Nitesh Kripalani, director and country head of Amazon Prime Video India.
Vinoth Chandar, CEO and creative director, ChuChu TV Studios, said: “We hope that children and their parents alike, enjoy and appreciate the content line-up that we have to offer especially since it is an ad-free environment.”
Amazon has been stocking up on local content since launching in India, with a raft of movie and TV deals already secured.
