Windfall MD exits as Scotland office opens
Argonon Group-owned factual producer Windfall Films is changing its managing director, with an ITN Productions exec coming in as a Scotland office opens.
Kristina Obradovic (left) is leaving the London-based Inside Einstein’s Mind prodco after 16 years, with Allison Todd (below right) drafted in to replace her.
At the same time, Windfall is launching Windfall Scotland, which will have Jamie Lochhead leading it as creative director. Dan Kendall has also been appointed at the Edinburgh-based division.
Obradovic decided to leave Windfall in September last year. She became a part-owner in the business after it became part of UK indie group Argonon in 2014.
Obradovic will hand over to Todd this month before spending some time with her family and then considering a new role.
“My time at Windfall has been an absolute pleasure and I’ve really enjoyed helping to build the company into a thriving business, but I’ve come to the very difficult decision that it’s time to move on,” she said.
Todd is an 18-year production and management veteran, and was most recently head of production for the increasingly-international ITN Productions.
She has also worked on shows such as How to Look Good Naked, Embarrassing Bodies and Operation Ouch!. She has also worked as head of production for Cineflix Productions, overseeing operations in the UK and Canada, and as acting deputy head of production for IWC Media.
She joins as Windfall launches factual-cum-reality series Mutiny for Channel 4. “As our international business in Canada, France and the USA grows, [Todd’s] extensive experience in international co-production will be invaluable,” said Windfall CEO David Dugan, who also paid tribute to Obradovic.
“Kristina played a pivotal role in making Windfall what it is today,” he said. “As well as being a caring manager, her legendary negotiating skills and persuasive powers have to be seen to be believed.”
Up in Scotland, Lochhead will aim at producing innovative films and blue-chip factual programmes such as Inside Nature’s Giants, which he has directed.
Kendall, a producer for the likes of the BBC, CBC and Discovery Networks, will look after “several major series that tackle archaeology and cosmology in exciting new ways”.
