IMG hires BBC exec for scripted push
IMG has hired Laura Andrews for a push into premium scripted.
Andrews comes to IMG from BBC Worldwide’s New York office where she was senior manager, scripted sales and coproduction.
In her new role she will be based in London and report to IMG’s head of entertainment sales and partnerships Gary Marenzi, and WME|IMG partner Chris Rice, who last week told TBI about some of the company’s expansion plans. Marenzi is the former MGM sales exec brought in to drive sales at IMG.
Andrews will work on drama sales across 25 countries at IMG, and also have an acquisitions role as well as a remit to expand IMG’s producer deals in the UK.
IMG has been expanding its international drama production and sales activity. In terms of sales it placed The Night Manager with broadcasters around the world and also has rights to shows including BBC America’s Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency.
Prior to BBC Worldwide, Andrews was at BBC-backed War and Peace prodco Lookout Point.
WME IMG counts Fidelity Management and Research and SoftBank among its backers.
