CBS alternative chief to exit
CBS’s executive VP of alternative programming, Chris Castallo, is leaving the Eye Network after ten years.
Castallo plans to remain with CBS until a successor is in place.
He has led CBS’s unscripted activities since August 2013, most recently overseeing a slate of established unscripted shows such as Big Brother, The Amazing Race, Survivor and Undercover Boss.
He has also overseen the upcoming Candy Crush TV gameshow, which Lionsgate Television is producing, and gave the greenlight to a US remake of Ambulance, the Endemol Shine International-sold UK fix rig format about emergency service responders.
He also commissioned the US version of another UK format, Hunted, which is currently broadcasting.
Castallo joined CBS from NBC in 2007, having worked his way up to a senior VP role at the Peacock’s drama division.
