Roy Ackerman surfaces at Murder Detectives prodco
Seasoned UK executive Roy Ackerman has been appointed managing director of Films of Record, the UK prodco that makes Channel 4’s The Murder Detectives.
Ackerman joins the producer having last year left Pulse Films, the producer that is now backed by youth brand Vice.
Films of Record is part of the Zinc Media, the production group formerly known as Ten Alps. Ackerman will be MD and director of international strategy at the business and has been tasked with growing the business in the US and internationally.
The new Films of Record boss ran Jamie Oliver’s Fresh One prodco before Pulse and was at Man vs Wild producer Diverse prior to that.
“Films of Record is an incredible brand, known for its powerful programmes and also to be working internationally with [Zinc prodcos] Brook Lapping, Blakeway and Reef and the genuinely brilliant team of creative execs led by Fiona Stourton made the decision to accept an incredibly easy one,” Ackerman said this morning. “I feel confident that the group is on the brink of big things.”
Peter Bertram, Zinc chairman, said: “We welcome Roy to the Company and believe his experience, creativity, contacts and enthusiasm will be invaluable in developing both Films of Record and fast tracking Zinc Media’s strategy of international growth in the TV business.”
