Vivendi units team up with Red Bull production outfit
Vivendi’s production arm Studiocanal and sister company Universal Music Group has formed a co-development partnership with Red Bull-owned Terra Mater Film Studios (The Ivory Game, Mindgamers) as the first step in a global initiative by Vivendi and Red Bull to maximise the value of their combined assets.
Projects developed from the deal, which was announced at the Cannes Film Festival, will be distributed internationally by Studiocanal. Music partnerships will be handled by Universal Music Group.
Ron Halpern, EVP of International Production and Acquisitions at Studiocanal and Marc Robinson, President of Globe, Universal Music Group UK brokered the partnership with Walter Koehler, CEO of Terra Mater Film Studios.
“Our co-development partnership with Terra Mater Film Studios is an exciting moment for this group of proudly European production houses to come together. Terra Mater Film Studios has a distinct vision for developing innovative and meaningful films and we look forward to working closely with them, and our friends at Universal Music Group,” said Halpern.
“We are delighted to be part of this innovative alliance. Combining our respective creative strengths, knowledge and reach for the first time is an inspiring proposition,” said Robinson.
“Partnering with such industry forces as Studiocanal and Universal Music Group is a thrilling prospect for us. We each hold a shared belief in the films we would like to make together and I can’t wait to bring these ideas to fruition through our co-development partnership,” said Koehler.
