Young Sheldon finds home on CTV
Young Sheldon is among a number of new US broadcast shows that Canadian broadcaster CTV has acquired for its 2017/18 season schedule.
The Big Bang Theory single cam spin-off (pictured) has gone to the Bell Media-owned network along with comedies My, Myself & I; The Mayor; and the Roseanne reboot.
CTV has also acquired the new Grey’s Anatomy spin-off, Shonda Rhimes legal procedural For the People, The Good Doctor, Ten Days in the Valley, Decpetion, The Gospel of Kevin, Marvel’s Inhumans and The Gifted.
Canadian networks are traditionally the first to acquire the Hollywood studios new fare, as they get early access to pilots just after the Upfronts.
CTV has tapped Warner Bros. International Television for Young Sheldon, Deception and Me, Myself & I; Disney ABC Domestic Television for The Crossing, For the People, the Grey’s spin-off, The Mayor and Inhumans; Sony Pictures Television for The Good Doctor; Twentieth Century Fox Television for The Gifted; Lionsgate Television for Ten Days in the Valley; and Carsey-Werner Television for Roseanne.
CTV holds its own upfront on June 7.
“CTV’s strategically curated mix of the year’s most-buzzed about sitcoms and compelling dramas sets the stage for viewers to root for both heroes, families and even misfits with heart,” said Mike Cosentino, senior VP, content and programming, Bell Media.
“We can’t wait to share our powerful new slate with advertisers and viewers next week.”
