Turner SVOD arthouse service launches on Roku
Filmstruck, the Turner-owned SVOD dedicated to arthouse, indie, foreign and cult films, has launched on Roku devices in the US.
The launch comes after Filmstruck added Chromecast support in February, with launched for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One due to follow “soon”.
The service is already available via the browser, on iOS and Android devices, and on Amazon Fire TV and the latest version of Apple TV.
Developed and managed by Turner Classic Movies (TCM) in collaboration with the Criterion Collection, Filmstruck launched in Octoberlast year, targeted at a niche audience of devoted film fans and cinefiles.
The service is currently only available in the US with users able to subscribe to US$6.99 or US$10.99 per-month packages.
Filmstruck was Turner’s first direct-to-consumer service. It has since been followed up with an SVOD offer for Boomerang, while Time Warner sister studio Warner Bros. now owns DramaFever and is planning a DC Universe OTT network.
