Arte’s Sting doc finds European homes

An Arte France-commissioned doc about enigmatic singer Sting has sold to broadcasters in the UK, Italy and Spain among others.

Sting – A Free Man has gone to pay TV channel Sky Arts in the UK, Mediaset in Italy, Canal+ and Planete+ in Poland, Movistar+ in Spain, Radio-Canada and Canuck compatriot ARTV, VRT in Belgium, RTV in Slovakia, Channel One in Russia, Proximus in Belgium, and Switzerland’s RTS, RSI an SFR.

The 1x52mins doc, from Claude Lacaze’s Terminal 9 prodco with support from UK-based Nevision, includes exclusive interviews with Sting (Gordon Sumner), his family and artists such as Will.i.am., who have crossed his path.

Nevision owns Sting – A Free Man distributor About Premium Content, which former Zodiak Media CFO Laurent Boissel and ex-France Télévisions and Canal+ channels chief Emmanuelle Guilbart co-founded.

RTVE in Spain is among a number of new buyers of investigative 1x52mins film Freightened, which comes from La Compagnie des Taxi-Brousse and Polar Star Films.

France-based distriubutor APC has also sold season two of innovation-focused doc series Dream the Future to networks such as Explora Canada, AMC Networks International Iberia, HRT in Croatia and FTV Prima in Czech Republic.
