Downward Dog needs new home after ABC end
The makers of Downward Dog are searching for new owners of the US network comedy after broadcaster ABC decided to cancel it.
Samm Hodges and Michael Killen on Friday released a statement via Twitter that revealed the “surprising news” ABC was not moving forwards on the show due to financial reasons.
This comes after the show’s debut last month.
The series follows a philosophical dog, who becomes alarmed that his millennial age owner and love of his life has less time for him than in the past due to her increasingly demanding job.
ABC “loved it creatively and really wanted to make more, but couldn’t find a financial path to do so” Hodges and Killen wrote, adding this was not “bullshit PR”.

However, they plan to pitch the project to other networks and platforms. “Obviously, this is a hard moment, but we’re not done,” they wrote.
“The crazy, amazing love you the fans have show for DD combined with the critical response make us confident that there is a future and we are committed to finding a new home.
The final two episodes of season one air tomorrow evening in the US.
The series, which stars Allison Tolson (Fargo), comes from Animal Media Group, Mosaic Media Group, ABC Studios and Legendary Television.
