Turner rejigs US distribution as Breland rises
Richard Warren has been upped to president of Turner Content Distribution after Coleman Breland moved to a new role.
Breland has become president of content experiences, while remaining president of pay network TCM and SVOD service FilmStruck.
As a result, Warren (pictured) takes on an expanded role at Turner’s US distribution base, overseeing brand distribution, affiliate marketing, interactive television, and business development for Turner’s entertainment, kids and news networks.
He will continue to oversee strategic planning, business operations, and legal and business affairs.
He was previously executive VP of content negotiations and strategy, and associate general counsel.
“Rich is a tremendous leader and has played an integral role in the growth and success of Turner’s content distribution division for the past 17 years,” said Turner president Levy, to whom Warren will report.
“I have tremendous respect for Rich and I’m confident his extensive experience in the distribution space, and his relationships in the industry, as well as his strong and strategic deal-making abilities, will steer Turner to continued growth in the distribution space.”
Breland’s new role, meanwhile, will see him “lead a cross-functional, company-wide initiative to explore new content strategies for business models both inside and outside the traditional TV ecosystem”.
“There is simply no one better than Coleman to lead this new effort in developing innovative content-driven strategies and initiatives for our company so we can remain agile, keep our competitive edge, and be poised for success in the future,” said Levy.
