SBS names new director of television
The Netherlands’ SBS Broadcasting has named Karin de Groot as its new director of television.
She will sit on the SBS executive board and work closely with content chief Remco van Leem to oversee the various platforms the broadcaster operates.
De Groot began her career as a producer at Endemol Netherlands before becoming channel manager of SBS-owned Net5 in 2005.
She held that post until 2010, when she joined All3Media-owned IDTV, and then returned to SBS to become channel chief at SBS6 last November.
Taco Rijssemus exited Dutch pubcaster KRO-NCRV to lead IDTV following her departure.
Upon her hire last November, van Leem pointed to de Groot’s experience in producing and channel controlling as a sign the broadcaster had hired “the right woman” to lead the John de Mol-owned business, which comprises Net5, SBS6, Veronica and SBS9.
