Wall to Wall staffer to lead new office
UK-based producer Wall to Wall is launching an office in the West of England, with executive producer Emily Shields set to lead it.
Bristol-located Wall to Wall West debuts with a trio of commissions, namely The Sweet Makers and Back in Time, which are already in production, and a three-part landmark history series.
Executive producer Shields has worked on numerous Wall to Wall series, including the Back in Time franchise, and rejoined the Warner Bros. International Television Production (WBITVP) prodco in October last year after a sabbatical.
She has also worked on history programming such as The Secret History of Our Streets and factual entertainment formats Supernanny and Faking It.
“I’m absolutely delighted to be setting up in Bristol,” said Wall to Wall CEO Leanne Klein. “I spent much of my early career working here and I very much look forward to meeting and re-connecting with the talent based in the region.
“Emily is a brilliant creative executive and is the perfect person to continue the Wall to Wall tradition of making high quality, fascinating and entertaining series from our new West Country base.”
Bristol is known as a factual and natural history hot spot, with BBC Studios Natural History Unit among the companies stationed there.
The Sweet Makers will be a 3x60mins series telling the history of sugar as modern day confectioners make sweets of the past. The commissioner wasn’t revealed.
The latest edition of the Back in Time franchise will be for BBC Two in the UK.
London-based Wall to Wall, meanwhile, has secured another two seasons of BBC factual entertainment series Who Do You Think You Are?.
Wall to Wall became part of WBITVP upon the exit of Warner Bros. Television Production UK co-managing directors Claire Hungate and Nick Emmerson earlier this year.
Hungate recently took on the CEO job at digital video company Brave Bison.
