World’s Worst docs land pre-buys
Network Nine, Channel 5, Sky and RMC Decouverte are among pre-buyers of new documentaries from UK-based distributor TCB Media Rights.
Manchest-based Title Role has gone into production on two user-generated factual series, the 6x60mins World’s Worst Flights (aka Flight, Camera, Action) and 6x60mins World’s Wildest Weather, which has gone to Nine in Australia, Sky TV in New Zealand and RMC Decouverte in France.
Nine, RMC Decouverte, Channel 5 in the UK and WeltN24 in Germany have also invested in World’s Worst Flights.
Meanwhile, TCB has entered into a new partnership with Worldmark Films, which is producing Caught on Dash Cam / Car vs World, a 5x60mins or 10x30mins clip show featuring terrible and surprising driving.
Sky in the UK, Network Seven, WeltN24 and Mediaworks in New Zealand have pre-bought the show.
“Our model is to develop ideas in partnership with our community of indie producers, based on international feedback from our sales team,” said Paul Heaney, CEO of TCB.
“We then put a funding structure in place, including pre-sales, which frees producers from the stress of the contemporary commissioning process. Getting content made is no mean feat in today’s market, where broadcasters and VOD platforms have widely differing strategies and budgets.”
