Dave adds Spanish street game show format
UK entertainment network Dave has ordered a local version of a Spanish game show set on the street.
Comedian Jason Byrne will present Don’t Say it, Bring it, with Belfast-based Stellify Media attached to produce 20 half-hour episodes for the UKTV-owned network.
The series is based on a Phileas Productions format in which a presenter armed with a small production crew and a loud hailer challenges random players to bring them answers to questions rather than use words.
Few Spanish formats have travelled to the UK, with notable exceptions including ITV’s remake of Your Face Sounds Familiar.
The UK version of Don’t Say it, Bring it will be filmed in cities including Belfast, Bristol, Edinburgh and Newcastle.
UKTV’s director of commissioning, Richard Watsham, and Dave general manager Steve North ordered the series, along with Helen Nightingale, who will be an executive producer.
Kieran Doherty, Matthew Worthy and Chris Jones will executive produce for Stellify, with Stuart Locke series producer and director.
Watsham said: “This is a new genre for origination on Dave and part of our ongoing strategy of broadening commissioning opportunities into different areas of the schedule.
“There are increasing opportunities for producers beyond the core comedy entertainment shows that Dave has been so successful in originating.”
