Amazon brings Agatha Christie series to the US
Amazon is adding a series of adaptations from Agatha Christie Limited to its lineup of branded originals in the US.
Amazon Prime Video will be the exclusive premium subscription streaming home for these series in the US.
The first adaptation of Christie’s classic stories, Ordeal By Innocence, began production earlier this month in the UK and will feature an ensemble cast, including Bill Nighy (Love Actually), Alice Eve (Star Trek Into Darkness), Ella Purnell (Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children), Matthew Goode (Downton Abbey) and Ed Westwick (Gossip Girl).
The show follows the story of the Argyll family after they are told the black sheep of the family could not have murdered its tyrannical matriarch.
Amazon’s deal with Agatha Christie continues its partnership with UK-based production company Mammoth Screen, with which it is coproducing Vanity Fair alongside ITV, and was brokered by WME.
IMG is handling international distribution rights, and negotiated the deal with Amazon.
“We are thrilled to bring to our slate these adaptations from the world’s greatest mystery writer,” said Morgan Wandell, head of international series at Amazon Studios.
“With terrific talent, in front of and behind the camera, they are sure to delight our customers.”
Ordeal By Innocence and the additional forthcoming drama series from Agatha Christie will be available for Prime members to stream using the Amazon Video app for TVs, connected devices including Amazon Fire TV, and mobile devices, or online with other Amazon Original Series online.
