Channel 5’s Milkshake! brings in new shows

Channel 5 (C5) is bringing in toon duo Puffin Rock and Gigglebug to its preschool block Milkshake! as part of the UK network’s on-going refresh of its kids offering.

Puffin Rock is an animated pre-school series narrated by Chris O’Dowd (Moone Boy, The IT Crowd). It features a family of puffins and their adventures on an Irish island.

The show is coproduced by Cartoon Saloon, Penguin Random House and children’s media company Dog Ears.

Hoho Rights is managing the UK and International licensing rights for Puffin Rock, excluding China.

Germany’s WDR Mediagroup has also licensed Finnish kids’ programme Gigglebug to C5’s pre-school block.

The first five episodes of Gigglebug will be streamed on Milkshake!’s newly launched YouTube channel with two new episodes released every week.

Sarah Muller, the head of children’s at C5, has led a refresh for the Milkshake! block since gaining the role in September 2016. This year, Milkshake! has seen a rebrand and new additions to the team.
