Fox hires Sony exec as Asia sales head
Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution (TCFTVD) has hired Sony exec Yan-Jong Wong as sales director of Asia.
Her primary responsibilities will be to license TCFTVD content across pay, SVOD, AVOD, basic and free TV, as well as scripted format sales throughout the region’s markets including Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Brunei, Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos.
Wong will be based out of the company’s newly established Singapore office, and will report to Brendan Zauner, senior VP of Asia at TCFTVD.
Prior to joining TCFTVD, Wong was vice president of English content channels at Sony Pictures Entertainment Networks in Asia, where she provided the overall and strategic leadership for the English content channels AXN and Sony Channel.
“I have known Yan in a professional capacity for more than 20 years and I am delighted to now have her join our Asia Pacific team,” said Richard Samuels, executive vice president of Asia Pacific at TCFTVD.
“She has well established relationships across the entire region and a peerless reputation as a shrewd, innovative and creative executive. The market is changing at a dynamic pace and with the addition of Yan, Fox is better placed than ever before to explore the many opportunities presenting themselves across the region.”
Last year, TCFTVD restructured under Gina Brogi following the retirement of the long-serving Marion Edwards. Those changes saw the Asia Pac region fall under Samuels’ lead.
