NBCU holds Thai Singer Auction
NBCUniversal International Formats is set for the worldwide sales launch of Singer Auction, a new vocal talent format co-developed with Thailand’s Zense Entertainment.
NBCU will begin worldwide network conversations later this year.
Singer Auction is a primetime entertainment format recently launched in Thailand on Channel 3. It gives unknown vocalists the opportunity to showcase their talents to the nation.
Each episode sees five celebrities go head-to-head in a bidding war for four singing contestants.
Linfield Ng, director at NBCUniversal International Formats said: “It is great to be partnering with Zense Entertainment. Singer Auction is an innovative new format, which has proven itself to be a ratings smash in Thailand.
“With high tension and entertainment at its core, the show is the perfect fit for the international primetime schedule and we have no doubt it will resonate with audiences across the globe.”
Varavuth Jentanakul, CEO and chairman at Zense, said: “We are delighted with the successful co-development of Singer Auction with NBCUniversal International Formats. In Thailand, the format has proven a real success given its unique auction structure and fun-filled bidding wars and I am sure it will become a primetime hit.”
NBCU has also co-developed a format in Latvia, Wedlocked, with TV3, and has sells formats such as Spartan Race and Top Chef internationally.
