Viacom to launch Paramount-branded Nordic SVOD net
Viacom International Media Networks is launching new Paramount-branded SVOD service in the Nordics.
Paramount+ will offer a first pay TV window on an array of classic and new films and more than 800 programmes from Viacom networks MTV and Comedy Central.
It debuts on October 1, and will available to premium subscribers of the YouSee platform in Denmark, Com Hem in Sweden and Get in Norway, plus Canal Digital/Telenor customers in all three territories.
They will get exclusive first looks at Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, xXx: Return of Xander Cage and Allied, plus classic shows such as South Park, Broad City (pictured) and Inside Amy Schumer.
“Paramount + is a groundbreaking concept for us and an important extension of our pay TV offer to our linear distribution partners,” said Andrea Sahlgren, senior of VP and general manager for VIMN Nordics.
“It’s the first time we’re aggregating first run movie rights with our TV content under the Paramount brand for SVOD access, available for our pay TV operators only. It’s the perfect complement to our existing linear TV and VOD offerings and will meet unrivalled demand from viewers in all the Nordic countries to be able to watch their favorite TV shows and movies when, where and on whatever device they want.”
The launch of Paramount+ comes as major media groups such as Viacom and Fox explore new ways of connecting with audiences increasingly rejecting the pay TV model. Fox has been launching its Fox+ service in Europe.
