Silverlining hires ex-History UK exec as acquisitions head
UK factual company Silverlining has appointed Rachel Job, former director of programming for A+E Networks’ History and H2 channels, to the newly created role of director of acquisitions.
Effective immediately, Job’s responsibilities will be based in London where she will source content for Silverlining’s distribution business and work alongside founder Bethan Corney to broker coproduction deals and secure pre-sales within the UK and internationally.
Prior to this, Job spent nearly ten years at A+E Networks UK, overseeing both History and H2 channels across the UK and EMEA territories. She departed the role earlier this year along with History chief Jana Bennett.
During her tenure, she commissioned and acquired numerous hours of content including Mud Men with Johnny Vaughan, Shaun Ryder on UFOs, Sean Bean on Waterloo, Ronnie O’Sullivan’s American Hustle and local formats, Pawn Stars UK and Pawn Stars SA.
“I’ve always admired the way Bethan has built Silverlining into a first-rate, much-loved outfit and I am thrilled to be able to help grow and build relationships with the wonderful independent producers I respect so much,” said Job.
Corney said: “The key to Silverlining’s offering is our editorial integrity, and commercial creativity gained from extensive broadcaster experience. Rachel is a class act with an instinct for what rates internationally, having commissioned and co-produced hundreds of hours of programmes from docu-dramas and formats to talent-led specials and returnable series.
“I’m looking forward to us growing Silverlining together and extending the range of production finance and editorial services that we offer producers.”
