Ovation on a Journy with new OTT service
Arts-focused US channel Ovation has launched a cultural travel-themed OTT service, Journy.
The VOD net launches on Roku devices and Xumo connected TVs in the US, and has secured a number of acquisitions for debut.
These include Jared Leto’s US national parks doc Great Wide Open, Reckognition Productions’ Droned, Australian muralist show The Wanderers and Borneo Productions International’s Finding the Warrior Within.
“JOURNY is all about celebrating diversity and unique storytelling,” said Elba Flamenco, senior director of content partnerships at Journy. “We’re interested in working with indie producers and creators that embody this spirit.
“Our millennial audience wants to watch programming that’s immersive, character-driven, and emotionally uplifting. Creatively produced programming of all types and formats is liberating and we’re looking at it all. This group of titles is a great example of our range.”
Journy will also offer several of Ovation’s arts- and travel-themed original series, including The Art Of, Southern Undercovered with the Lee Bros., The Da Vinci List and The Method.
The platform will roll out next year.
In related news, Ovation has bought season eleven of ITV Studios Global Entertainment’s The Artful Detective.
