SVOD service BritBox taps Fremantle for QI
BBC Worldwide-backed subscription VOD service BritBox has bought a range of new British shows from companies including FremantleMedia International.
Shows launching less than 24 hours after their UK debuts include comedy panel show QI and factual series Escape to the Country, which is soon to launch its 25th season.
Fantasy series Merlin and feature drama Against the Law are also included in the agreement.
”Showcasing the best of British television is what BritBox is all about,” said Soumya Sriraman, president of BritBox. “Expanding our offering with content created and distributed by leading British television creators and distributors of Fremantle’s scale and magnitude only catapults us closer to our end goal.”
BritBox launched last year as a venture between British firms BBCWW and ITV Studios, with AMC Networks as an investor.
