ABC brings in ex-NBCU exec as business affairs head
ABC Studios International (ABCSI) has brought in ex-NBCUniversal International exec Guy Sheppard as head of business affairs.
Sheppard will report to Howard Davine, executive vice president of business operations at ABC Studios.
From his base in London, Sheppard will lead the business affairs and deal-making functions of ABC Studios International.
His exit from NBCU International Studios closely follows that of president Michael Edelstein, who announced his departure just under a month ago.
Sheppard and team will negotiate and manage all business deals in connection with ABCSI’s development and production activities, including engaging above-the-line talent, negotiation co-production arrangements, oversee the licensing of ABCSI content across all platforms and provide strategic support for its business expansion.
Davine said: “Guy is one of the most accomplished and well-respected executives in the business. We’re thrilled to have him join the ABCSI team and look forward to working with him to help ABCSI achieve its fullest ambitions.”
Keli Lee, managing director of international content, platforms and talent, said: “It’s a real coup for ABC Studios International to have Guy join the team.
“He brings an expertise and insight to the area of international entertainment that is absolutely unparalleled. With Guy’s support, we will continue to grow and expand our slate and business.”
Sheppard was previously senior vice president of business, commercial and legal affairs at NBCUniversal International Studios. He led the commercial affairs team serving all of NBCU’s International television production.
ABC’s international production arm landed its first commission earlier this year, a drama for Australian namesake the ABC called Harrow.
