Sat.1 breeds another Super Dog
Rescue Dog to Super Dog, the Channel 4 format from Plimsoll Productions, is headed for Sat.1 in Germany.
The ProSiebenSat.1 Media-owned network has commissioned Docma TV to create a version titled Project Super Dog – Helper on Four Paws.
The four-episode series, based on the Magnify Media-sold format, will see rescue dogs intensively trained to become dogs for eight people with a wide range of disabilities.
The original version was for Channel 4 in the UK, with Magnify investor Plimsoll producing. That version has sold to the likes of Nippon TV in Japan, Rai in Italy and Sat.1 Gold in Germany.
A US version for Animal Planet is already in production and a remake for pubcaster RTBF aired as two primetime specials.
Magnify has now secured rights to the finished US series, which runs to six hours.
Monster Entertainment in Norway, DLO in Spain and Portugal and Endemol Shine France have also optioned the original format.
