Paramount & Anonymous land rights to Margaret Atwood trilogy

Paramount Television, along with Anonymous Content have acquired the rights to develop a series based on The Handmaid’s Tale author Margarate Atwood’s MaddAddam trilogy.

The trilogy is based on novels Oryx and Crake, The Year of the Flood and MaddAddam.

Produced by Rock Paper Scissors Entertainment, Paramount and Anonymous procured the title through their first-look deal with the prodco, which includes both scripted and unscripted content.

Anonymous’s David Kanter and Bard Dorros will executive produce, along with Rock Paper Scissor’s Angus Wall, Linda Carlson and Kent Kubena.

Atwood’s dystopian drama The Handmaid’s Tale has been a big hit as a Hulu original. It became the first streaming series to win best drama at the Emmys in 2017.

Anonymous and Paramount TV have partnered to produce a range of new originals including George Clooney’s Catch-22 for Hulu, and a TV remake of Gregory David Roberts’s widely-read book Shantaram.
