UK indies body pacts with Indian producers guild

British indies body Pact is today signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Producers Guild of India.

The partnership is designed to increase production between the UK and India, with better trade links between the countries critical for Britain in a post-Brexit world.

The signing is happening today in Mumbai at the UK Createch Summit. It will result in the Producers Guild of India joining the Global Creative Alliance and becoming the Indian partner of UK online production hub Production Platform.

In practice, UK and Indian producers will now share best practice, projects and ideas, and seek to up the number of coproductions between the two countries’ producers.

Launched in October last year with funding from the UK’s Department for International Trade, the Production Platform expects 25 countries to have joined by the summer of this year.

“The MoU with the Producers Guild of India is a great move towards a more collaborative relationship with the Indian TV production sector,” said Dawn Simpson-McCarthy, director of international development at Pact.

“The addition of the Producers Guild of India will allow both Indian and UK producers to begin to access co-production ideas and projects through the Production Platform which will hopefully lead to future successful partnerships.”
