Amazon scores La Liga football docu-series
Amazon Prime Video has greenlit Six Dreams, a sports docu-series that follows six individuals throughout their 2017-18 season of La Liga, the globally-followed Spanish football league.
The series will give viewers an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the Spanish football league following three players, two coaches and a club president as they navigate their way through the season.
It will launch exclusively on Prime Video in 2018 worldwide. Six Dreams is produced in collaboration with MediaPro and LaLiga.
The stars will be Atletico Madrid player Saul Niguez, Atlectic Bilbao player Inaki Williams, Real Betis player Andres Guardado, SD Eibar president Amaia Gorostiza, and FC Sevilla head coach and Girona FC sports director Quique Carcel.
“We are really excited to bring Six Dreams to our Prime Video members around the world and give them unique access to the daily lives of some of the men and women who make La Liga one of the greatest and most popular football leagues on the planet,” said Jay Marine, VP of Amazon Prime Video Europe.
“These men and women all have fascinating and unique stories and we are excited to work with La Liga to bring these stories to our customers and football fans all over the world.”
The show joins Prime Video’s growing stable of sports entertainment shows including Grand Prix Driver, All Or Nothing and All Blacks.
The number of football-related docs is going up ahead of the FIFA World Cup in Russia this June and July. Separately, Amazon and Netflix have both found audiences for original sports-themed docs such as Last Chance U and All or Nothing.
This week, HBO Europe and HBO Latin American announced Destino Rusia 2018 as their first coproduced doc series.
