Netflix discovers Diagnosis doc series from trio
Netflix has commissioned a new documentary series from Scott Rudin Productions, Lightbox and The New York Times.
The eight-part series is inspired by The New York Times Magazine’s long-running and popular column, Diagnosis, written by Dr. Lisa Sanders.
Diagnosis (WT) will follow patients with mysterious illnesses and join them on an emotionally charged journey to find a diagnosis and potentially, a cure.
Each medical mystery will be tackled by combining the power of global crowdsourcing, social media platforms and established medical expertise. The cases will be curated by Dr. Sanders.
The series is executive produced by Scott Rudin, Garrett Basch and Eli Bush of Scott Rudin Productions; Jonathan Chinn (Man on Wire, Searching for Sugar Man), Simon Chinn (LA 92, Fantastic Lies) and P.G. Morgan of Lightbox; and Jake Silverstein, editor-in-chief of The New York Times Magazine.
