Paramount orders First Wives Club TV reboot
Paramount Network has ordered a series reboot of cult 1996 movie The First Wives Club, which originally starred Bette Middler, Goldie Hawn and Diane Keaton.
The move arrives near two weeks after the network ordered the project to pilot. It will follow a group of New York women who band together to take revenge on their partners post-divorce.
Paramount has ordered 10 half-hour episodes. Production will begin in New York this Summer and the series is set to premier in 2019.
Girls Trip scribe Tracy Oliver will write and executive produce. Other exec producers include Karen Rosenfelt, Scott Rudin, Tony Hernandez.
“Tracy Oliver is a brilliant writer and the perfect visionary to bring this unforgettable story from the big screen to the small screen in a fresh and contemporary way,” said Keith Cox, president of development and production for Paramount Network, TV Land, and CMT.
