HBO orders Spanish-language comedy starring Fred Armisen

HBO has ordered Spanish-language comedy Los Espookys (WT), with Fred Armisen (Portlandia) writing, producing and starring the series.

Los Espookys (fka Mexico City: Only Good Things Happen) is set in a strange and dreamy version of present day Mexico City and follows a group of friends turning their love for horror into a peculiar business.

Along with Armisen, Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels will executive produce via his Broadway Video production company with Andrew Singer joining him.

Ana Fabrega and Julia Torres will also join as co-executive producers, along with Alice Mathias. Fabrega and Torres also star in the series as Tati and Andres, respectively.

Broadway Video will produce in association with Antigravico and Más Mejor.
