Netflix orders Annapurna musical drama Mixtape

Netflix has ordered musical drama series Mixtape from Annapurna Pictures in association with 20^th Century Fox Television and Fox 21 Television Studios.

Mixtape is described as a romantic musical drama that looks at the love stories connecting a diverse, disparate group of people in contemporary LA.

The ten-episode series is executive produced by Joshua Safran, Megan Ellison, Sue Naegle and Ali Krug.

Safran will serve as writer with Callie Hernandez, Jahmil French and Jenna Dewan among the cast.

The title was originally shot for Fox. It follows a string of musical-themed programming currently being commissioned from The CW’s Crazy Ex-Girlfriend to Apple’s upcoming J.J.Abrams music dramedy Little Voices.
