Icon Films to make Judy Garland film For Sky Arts
UK indie producer Icon Films has been commissioned by Sky Arts to produce a 60-minute documentary exploring the life of Hollywood movie idol Judy Garland, to be hosted by singer Marc Almond.
Entitled Sky Arts Passions – Judy Garland by Marc Almond, the film will see Almond embark on a journey to piece together the poignant last days of the Hollywood’s famous star. Filled with performances and references to Garland’s films and songs, the film will explore her London hangouts and make special reference to The Wizard of Oz.
Stephen McQuillan, head of factual of Icon Films and executive producer of the Garland production, said: “We are absolutely delighted to contribute to the Sky Arts Passions strand again with a film that tells the tragic yet magnificent story of Judy Garland.”
In a separate commission, Icon is producing a follow-on film to its 1 x 60’ Restless Legs: Can’t Stop Twitching documentary for Channel 5. The new film will reveal research into the condition since the original film in 2016. Restless Legs Syndrome is daily torture for the people who suffer from it, says Icon, with some contemplating suicide.
