Netflix amps up motor programming with two new titles

Netflix is adding two new global original motor series and a second season of the sleeper vs. supercar competition Fastest Car.

Car Masters: Rust to Riches will follow Mark Towle and team as they transform rusty wrecks into six-figure sums. It launches on September 14.

Hailing from MAK Pictures, exec producers include Mark Kadin, Will Ehbrecht, Rob Hammersley, Michael Lutz, John Stokel and Scott Popjes.

Hyperdrive is a high-stakes tournament where worldwide drivers take on large obstacle courses. It will launch in 2019.

Producers of the title are Whalerock Industries and Denver & Delilah Productions. Aaron Catling will act as showrunner and exec producer.

Joining Catling as EPs are Lloyd Braun, Chris Cowan, Charlize Theron, Beth Kono and AJ Dix.

The new and returning titles accompany Netflix’s announcement in March that it would teaming up with Formula 1 on a ten-episode docu-series following the 2018 FIA Formula One World Championship. The tournament will be released in 2019.
